While vacationing in the Catskills with her autocratic mother, Lily falls in love with a stranger named Nick. Knowing that Lily stands to inherit a fortune, and skeptical that Nick’s intentions are true, Lily’s mother Eva, a cautious and calculating German-Jewish refugee, sets out to destroy any chance of their future together.
